November 2023 News and Calendar

We are in the month of gratitude for all the wonderful people in our lives. I am so grateful to be part of the SFACA community and please know that I wish you and your family a bounty of God’s blessings this Thanksgiving holiday.

Winter uniforms begin on November 1st. Please refer to the handbook if you have any questions regarding our uniform policy. All uniforms are from Flynn and O’Hara located in the Atlas Mall.

While there may be several days off this month, we have many activities happening. Our annual Grocery Bingo will be held on November 17th. Doors open that evening at 6:00pm. Tickets will be sold on Wednesday, November 1st from 6:30pm-8:30 pm and Sunday morning from 10:30am-12:30pm. On both days,  it will be sold in Monsignor Maresca Center (Lower School). If interested, please come on those days for tickets. Thank you to all families who have helped with their grocery donations!

Our 8th Graders will be having their special Ring Day Mass on Friday, November 3rd. They will be getting their rings and will be having a special breakfast for their families. Please keep our 8th graders in your prayers as they study and prepare for their TACHS Exam given on Saturday, November 4th. This TACHS Exam is for their entrance into Catholic High Schools.

School will be closed for grades K-8 on November 9th.  It is a professional development for teachers and staff. 3K and 4K classes are in session on that day. School will be closed for all on Veterans Day, November 10th. Please keep all our Veterans in your prayers. We thank all our Veterans for their dedicated service to our country.

Our next “Breakfast with the Principal” will be held on November 14th for grades 3-5. I will be sending home a letter inviting those parents to come and enjoy a cup of coffee and light refreshments and have a “chat” to address any concerns that you may have.

School will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday from Thursday, November 23rd through and including Monday, November 27th. This extra day is in gratitude to Bishop Brennan’s visit to our Academy. Enjoy this extra long break with family and friends. 3K and 4K classes ARE IN session on Monday.

A few gentle reminders:

  • Please label all jackets, sweaters and items with your child’s name.
  • Students need absence notes to be given to their teacher on the day they are to return indicating the reason
  • Students are to remember to bring all books needed for homework because NO student is permitted to return to the classroom after they dismiss from school.
  • If a student is absent and books are needed to complete class work/homework, please call the office and request the materials. Please also notify the teacher so the materials may be sent down in sufficient time for the teacher to prepare the materials requested. Please contact the office and the teacher before 10 am.
  • Please on all food orders, indicate your child’s name, grade, purpose, and enclose the exact change. This is very important for the lunch moms to keep orders accurate. Pizza is served on Thursdays, but payment is due on Monday for that week.

Kindly remember that there should be NO SMOKING on school grounds. Please refrain from smoking near the school and church premises, especially near our students and families. In addition, please be mindful of double parking and blocking the yellow school busses in the front of the school. Our children’s safety is always our priority. Please remember that there should be no running or playing around the church or the steps after dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,
Ms. Elizabeth Reilly, Faculty, and Staff
