March 2024 Calendar and News

Dear SFACA Families:

Welcome March! This month is extra special as we begin the School Wide Read –A – Thon all month long! Our Literacy Week begins Monday 3/11 and we will follow up with the Scholastic Book Fair on Monday the 25th and Tuesday the 26th of March. We thank Mrs. Chantel Longuinho, Mrs. Maura Hili, and all our volunteers for helping with all these fun and educational activities promoting reading and literacy.

We want to thank Mr. Stephen Zilinski and family for the donation of the yummy rainbow bagels and assorted bagels and spreads for faculty and staff for Student Appreciation Day. We also thank Mrs. Maura Hili and the HAA for a wonderful and delicious luncheon for Teacher Appreciation Day at Forno’s. We are so appreciative for everything you do for everyone, especially our students.

As we are in the Blessed Season of Lent, the students will be attending Stations of the Cross everyThursday at 2:05pm in the Church. Parents and family members are welcome to join us if you would like to follow Jesus’ journey to His resurrection.

Our 8th Graders Confirmation Mass and Retreat will be held on March 2nd. We also congratulate our 8th Graders as they prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, March 17th. We pray that the Holy Spirit will continuously guide and help our students as they receive this very special and Holy Sacrament.

If you are interested in the Ridgewood Banking Program, a program where students get their own “savings book”, please contact the office and the paperwork will be sent home. It is never too early to prepare and teach students of the value of saving money.

We are happy to announce that we have installed the new double enforced safety glass doors in our entrance way of our school. These doors will provide extra protection for safety for our students, faculty, parents, and staff. We thank Mr. Chris DiMare, a parent Board Member, who has helped facilitate getting these doors.

As we prepare for the glorious celebration of Easter, I would like to wish you all a wonderful and happy Easter. Enjoy the Easter holiday and break with your family and friends. School will resume on Monday, April 8th.

  • Please note that Wednesday, March 27th is a 12:30pm dismissal for grades K-8. 3K and PreK will be dismissed at 1:00pm. NO AFTER SCHOOL WILL BE AVAILABLE.

A few gentle reminders:

  • Please label all jackets, sweaters and items with your child’s name.
  • Students need absence notes to be given to their teacher on the day they are to return indicating the reason
  • Students are to remember to bring all books needed for homework because NO student is permitted to return to the classroom after they dismiss from school.
  • If a student is absent and books are needed to complete class work/homework, please call the office and request the materials. Please also notify the teacher so the materials may be sent down in sufficient time for the teacher to prepare the materials requested. Please contact the office and the teacher before 10 am.
  • Please with any food orders indicate your child’s name, grade, purpose, and the exact change. This is very important for the lunch moms to keep orders accurate. Pizza is served on Thursdays, but payment is due on Monday for that week.

Kindly remember that there should be NO SMOKING on school grounds. Please refrain from smoking near the school and church premises, especially near our students and families. In addition, please be mindful of double parking and blocking the yellow school busses in the front of the school. Our children’s safety is always our priority. Please remember that there should be no running or playing around the church or the steps after dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation.

Ms. Elizabeth Reilly, Faculty, and Staff
