Dear SFACA Families:
Welcome April! I can not believe that this academic year is flying by! I hope that you all had a relaxing and restful Easter break and a blessed Easter. As we celebrate the joyous celebration of Jesus’ resurrection, we are reminded of the sacrifices and promises of His resurrection.
The students of grades 4, 6, and 7 are studying diligently while preparing for their NYS ELA state exams. I thank their teachers for preparing them so thoroughly and I am sure that they will do well. These tests are not reflected in their report cards, but it is important that each student tries his or her best and stays focused. The NYS Math exams will be in May.
Our School Wide Read-A-Thon and Literacy Week was a complete success! The children were involved with many literacy activities while learning and understanding the importance of Reading. It ended with a wonderful Scholastic Book Fair where the students were able to choose from a various selection of books. We thank again Mrs. Maura Hili, Mrs. Chantel Longuinho, and their many volunteers who made this Literacy Week fun and exciting.
We congratulate our 8th Graders as they celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation last month. May the gifts of the Holy Spirit continue to guide them in their faith as they continue on to high school. These students have made their final high school decisions and we are proud of them all.
If you are interested in the Ridgewood Banking Program, a program where students get their own “savings book”, please contact the office and the paperwork will be sent home. It is never too early to prepare and teach students of the value of saving money.
We also congratulate the Kubina family for being the winners of the free monthly tuition raffle. Thank you to all our families for helping with our candy sale drive. Your support is greatly appreciated.
There will be new student registration on April 18th from 1:00 - 2:00 pm and on April 23rd from 10:00-11:00 am. Please alert your family and friends if they are interested in registering. Please call the office if you are in need of further information.
A few gentle reminders:
Kindly remember that there should be NO SMOKING on school grounds. Please refrain from smoking near the school and church premises, especially near our students and families. In addition, please be mindful of double parking and blocking the yellow school busses in the front of the school. Our children’s safety is always our priority. Please remember that there should be no running or playing around the church or the steps after dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation.
Ms. Elizabeth Reilly, Faculty, and Staff
